Shelley Maithel

Dr. Maithel is a board-certified Vascular and General Surgeon dedicated to delivering high quality, modern surgical care to the community. She specializes in treating all types of vascular disease, with a particular focus on utilizing advanced limb salvage techniques to improve outcomes for patients with peripheral arterial disease, as well as innovative minimally invasive approaches to effectively manage advanced aortic pathologies.

Dr. Maithel earned her medical degree from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine after completing her undergraduate education at Dartmouth College. She completed her General Surgery residency at UC Irvine, followed by a Vascular Surgery fellowship at the University of Southern California (USC). Throughout her training, she remained committed to advancing the field of surgery through research, contributing to 20 peer-reviewed publications, authoring two book chapters, and presenting her work nationwide at over 20 academic conferences.

Before joining Aria Vascular, Dr. Maithel served as a vascular surgeon at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and held a clinical faculty position at Stanford University, where she was actively involved in teaching and mentoring surgical residents and medical students. Her commitment to surgical education continues in her role as teaching faculty for the San Joaquin General Hospital Surgical Training Program, where she trains and inspires future surgeons.

Dr. Maithel is deeply committed to addressing healthcare disparities and ensuring access to advanced vascular treatments for all patients. She prioritizes clear communication, shared decision-making, and long-term follow-up to help her patients achieve optimal outcomes. She also collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to develop programs that address the unique needs of San Joaquin County, with a focus on improving vascular health for vulnerable populations.
